Discovered Munting Buhangin when we drove to check out the highway leading to the hills and shoreline of Nasugbu, which leads to Pico de Loro. (As far as I know, this is the highway that will link Nasugbu to Tarnate in Cavite. Also known as the Batangas – Cavite Coastal Highway.)
As we are along the road, all of a sudden we spotted a billboard that shows “this way to Munting Buhangin” and agreed to check it out. Although we do not have any intentions in getting accommodated, and would just like to peek through the beach resort.
The beach camp resort is situated in one of the captivating coves in the town of Nasugbu in Batangas. And is a mere two and half-hours to three hours drive from Manila.
But driving to the resort could be a real challenge to the drivers. I suggest that if you are a rookie driver be extra cautious in taking the uphill and downhill drive to the resort. It is recommended to drive in low gear for better control of your vehicle.
Moreover, put in mind that the driver must concentrate on the road and not on the view that will definitely capture the driver’s attention. However, if you cannot resist the gorgeous mountain seaside view, pullover and take hold of your camera and capture some perfect shots.
After the great mountain seaside view, you have to park your car at a designated parking space and guess what? Well, you have to hike down to the resort. This is to warn our not so young friends that you have to trek down a hundred steps to reach the resort, and you need to hike up to the parking area once you are ready to leave the resort.
But, once you reach the beach area, all those tiring calisthenics will be wiped out. The sand, fine and white with clean and clear water awaits you for a refreshing swim.
The beachfront of the resort is crammed with bamboo picnic huts ideal for day tour where you can have your family or group cookout. There are a number of barbecue grills around the area.
Incidentally Munting Buhangin allows their guest to bring in food, an added savings for budget conscious travelers. But, for those who have no time to prepare for their meals, Kainan sa Beach Camp Restaurant serves Filipino dishes.
The beach then, was overflowing with bodies and it was a Saturday and summertime. Young and old having fun with the cool clear water while some out-of-towner are singing their heart out in the karaoke. So, if you want a quiet place and with a fewer crowd, perhaps you may have to consider another resort.
There are a number of accommodation options you can select at Munting Buhangin. For 2 to 3 persons, a Single Air-conditioned Bedroom would be good enough. With regard to big families or groups, a Duplex Air-conditioned Cottage is recommended. On the part of budget conscious vacationer, non air-conditioned cottages are also available.
Well, I almost forgot to mention the most popular at the resort, the tree houses that can accommodate ten persons. Moreover for a more thrilling overnight accommodation, you can opt to take screen tents with cushioned mattress.
In the interest of nature lovers, the resort offers its guest to go for a trek and see exotic floras and faunas inside the forest. Here one can build a tent, learn survival courses and other camp activities.
There are more amenities the resort offers unfortunately I cannot remember everything. If you are interested in knowing more about the resort and beach camp, you can call their Makati office or send them an email thru their contact information’s below.
